The collection contains the correspondence, Jan. 1963-Oct. 1963 and Sept.-Oct. 1967, (sixteen letters) between Charles Rosenberg and Margaret T. (Mrs. Ridge) Riley, assistant in the Penn State Collection, The Pennsylvania State University, concerning his research on the agricultural experiment station and the possibility of publishing the correspondence between Evan Pugh (Penn State) and Samuel W. Johnson (Dept. of Biochemistry, New Haven (Conn.) Station) to document the effects of their years in Europe on the experiment station movement in the U.S. Also, one page of notes by Riley about their correspondence; one partial envelope, 1971, with note by Riley about what she sent to Rosenberg; and three offprints of Rosenberg's articles ("The Adams Act: Politics and the Cause of Scientific Research," Agricultural History 38 no. 1 (1964):3-12; "Martin Arrowsmith: The Scientist as Hero," American Quarterly 15 no. 3 (1963):447-458; "Science, Technology, and Economic Growth: The Case of the Agricultural Experiment Station Scientist, 1875-1914," Agricultural History 45 no. 1 (1971):1-20).
